I am a Licensed Mental Health Counselor practicing within the mental health community since 2002. I completed my Bachelors of Science in Psychology from the University of Central Florida, with a minor in Women's Studies. I received my Masters of Arts Degree in Counseling Psychology from Assumption College in 2002 with dual concentrations in Child and Family Therapy and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy.
I began my work within the mental health field in 2000. I have worked within a residential care setting for adolescents experiencing a variety of behavioral and emotional difficulties, trauma, and abandonment. I have also worked as a Program Coordinator of a transitional program to successfully integrate residents back into their family communities. Within this program I worked closely with both children and their families, as well as maintained a supervisory role over supportive staff. I have led a number of groups, including DBT, mindfulness, anger management, self-esteem, conflict resolution, and healthy relationships. I began outpatient therapy work in 2005 with children and adults of all ages, and have experienced working both within the office and home based setting. I maintain ongoing consultation and supervision for trauma based clients, and continue to seek out new learning and professional growth opportunities. I have completed Trauma Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy and EMDR Basic Training. I am currently a member of the Licensed Professional Counselor's Association of North Carolina, the EMDR International Association, and the International Society for the Study of Trauma and Dissociation.
A Moment's Reflection is a private individual therapy practice, that offers supportive individual therapy to children and adults. I feel that it is important that each individual find a path to wellness that is comfortable for themselves, as all of our journeys are unique. Life brings challenges and roadblocks which at times require us to seek outside supports. I strive to provide a safe and caring environment for individuals to explore life's difficulties, and receive the respect we all deserve.
